Has there ever been an NBA season with this many 50+ win teams in the playoffs?

Has there ever been a season with as many as 8 50plus teams in the playoffs ?

Especially in the Western-Conference !

Virtually all 8 Western-Conference teams have a great chance of getting 50 wins this season.

Man thats why us older basketball fans and most people are so critical of basketball in the late 90's and in the 2000's.

In the Magic Bird era, your team had to win pretty much 50 games a year to make it to the playoffs. But as free agency became the norm it became harder for teams to put quality teams on the floor, because they couldnt keep a star nucleus together. This is now one of those years where most of the 50 win teams have 3 stars averaging anywhere from 19 to 25 pts / game each. Its a great year for basketball.

It could be first time ever if they can keep pace the rest of the season. By far this one of the best season's since the early 90's. I'm loving the NbA right now.

This season is certainly one of the most competitive in recent memory. However, the 2000-01 season was just as competitive. 7 out of 8 teams in the West had 50+ wins and 10 teams finished above .500. Additionally, all 8 Eastern playoff teams finished above .500.

Spurs (58-24), Lakers (56-26), Kings (55-27), Mavs (53-29), Jazz (53-29),

Suns (51-31), Blazers (50-32), Wolves (47-35), Rockets (45-37), Sonics (44-38)
It's a great year for basketball simply because of the quality of the game being played, not the number of scorers.
